Founded in 2012, Urban Diary is the non-profit research arm of the Oval Partnership and Hong Kong’s first storytelling NGO dedicated to promoting sustainability. We believe everyday stories are essential to understanding a city—its habitats, both human and other sentient beings—and to identifying pathways for the co-prosperity of people and nature.
At Urban Diary, we collect community stories from ordinary people and present them in a range of non-fiction formats, including writing, photography, illustration, documentaries, and guided tours. We curate multidisciplinary programmes that inspire transformation and nurture a new generation of storytellers and community makers. Through extensive fieldwork across Hong Kong, Urban Diary has built trusting relationships with the city’s community makers and sustainable living practitioners.
