Did you know? Aquaponics

Aquaponics is a food production system that allows fish and plants to grow symbiotically, ie. in a way that promotes mutual growth.  In this system, fish waste is no longer waste; instead they provide nutrient-rich water to fertilise the plants.    As the ‘healthy’ waste water enters the plants section of the system, the latter acts a filter, and re-circulates clean water back to the fish tank.

A vertical aquaponic system can grow leafy greens, herbs and raise fish all at the same time. With a vegetables section on top and a fish tank below, the clever design doesn’t take up much space, and is practical even for the small homes of Hong Kong.
